Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hossein Jaberi Ansari strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, which killed and injured innocent people, and extended his condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims.
“The repeat of terrorist attacks on mosques and Hussainiyahs in eastern part of Saudi Arabia reveals the worrying security situation in this region and the negligence on the part of security forces in performing their duties regarding the protection of various groups of people against terrorist attacks,” said the Iranian diplomat on Friday.
At least four people have been killed and 18 others injured following a bombing and gun attack on a Shia mosque in an eastern province of Saudi Arabia, a Saudi government spokesman said.
According to him, security officers attempted to stop two suicide bombers from entering the Imam Rida mosque in the town of Mahasen in al-Ahsa province during Friday prayers, but one blew himself up at the entrance of the mosque while other wearing an explosive belt was arrested after an exchange of fire.
