Burlington residents on Wednesday retagged a mosque that two teens allegedly defaced over the weekend.

Individuals tagged the walls outside of the mosque with positive messages. The wall will be repainted at a later date.

“Today’s message is one of peace,” said State Rep. Ken Gordon.

On Sunday, two teen allegedly tagged “USA” on a wall of the mosque. They also allegedly tossed eggs at the mosque.

Two 18-year-old men, Camerone Cappella and Derrik Demone, have been charged with destruction of property in connection with the incident.

“Know that your wider network of friends, colleagues and neighbors will not tolerate these hateful acts” said Father Frank Silva of the St. Margaret Parish.

The mosque also held an interfaith service entitled “We Are Americans.”
