NELLORE:The row over disputed Muslim Burialground located in Ram Nagar in the city took a new turn on Monday night when a large number of Muslims led by city Mayor SK Abdul Aziz began constructing a mosque after conducting namaz in the disputed place

They entered the disputed place and started to remove structures including a compound wall which were reportedly constructed by film producer C Kalyan who owned the land. After entering the site with construction material, they took up mosque works and named it ‘Maszid-A-Azizeeya’. Defending their action in constructing a mosque, the Mayor said that the property totally belonged to the Wakf Board as it was clearly mentioned in the encumbrance certificate. He warned of serious consequences those who try to establish commercial complexes and other constructions. It may be recalled that the film producer purchased 93.5 cents of the disputed land, said to be a Muslim Burial Ground, with the help of former Rural MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy during the Congress regime in 2010. Later Vivekananda Reddy and C Kalyan fell out over sharing of money and Reddy suddenly played a reverse game by saying that the land belonged to MBG. City Mayor Aziz, on Monday resorted to construct a mosque in the land.
