A glass panel at the entrance of the mosque's office was smashed and the mosque was set alight about 2:00am Friday. This was the second such attack on the mosque this year and the Acting Superintendent Ben Marcus said that "arson...is an obvious line of inquiry for us," he said.
The attack comes just four months after a previous attack on the mosque with Australian Muslims facing an unprecedented wave of Islamophobic attacks.
M
osque spokesman Shahjahan Khan, said the attack on the mosque would likely to cost "hundreds of thousands of dollars”. He cited the Reclaim Australia movement, which held rallies protesting against the cultural influence of Islam in Australia for connecting the religion with violent extremism, as well as the political figure Pauline Hanson, who spoke at the group’s Brisbane rally.
“This has been the second attack on this Islamic community in four months. It’s shocking, it’s outrageous and we want people to come forward so that the police can get the names of the perpetrators, so they can investigate it and if necessary they are charged.”

There are no suspects at the moment, but it was the second attack on the mosque this year. Acting Superintendent Ben Marcus said arson had not been ruled out.
